William Shakespeareis an English playwright. He wrote most of his famous works between 1589 and 1613. Shakespeare's genres of plays are comedy, tragedy, and history. Then, why does his work become so famous and his name always appears when searching for literary works, especially English literature?

1. Hamlet
Hamlet is a drama with the tragedy genre. Hamlet is a Danish prince who is saddened by the death of his father 'King Hamlet' and disappointed that his mother wants to be married to his uncle who later replaces the throne of Hamlet's father.

At first, he was only sad and disappointed until a ghost suddenly appeared that resembled 'King Hamlet' and gave orders that Hamlet could take revenge for killing 'King Hamlet'. From there, Hamlet acted like a madman and often satirized his uncle who seemed innocent by the death of his brother.



2. Romeo dan Juliet
Of course, you've often heard the title of this one, right?. Romeo and Juliet are a couple who love each other but are not approved by their big family. This is because their family are respected families in Verona and hold a grudge against each other. One night, the Montagues make a mess at the Capulet family party. That's when Romeo and Juliet first met and immediately fell in love.

Juliet wants to be betrothed to a man she doesn't love, so she secretly enters into a relationship with Romeo and marries him. They hope that, with their love, their family can make peace. However, it is very difficult to change it. Their love is exposed, Romeo is exiled and Juliet is locked up. Various ways are done so that they unite. However, when Juliet plans to pretend to be dead so Romeo can return, Romeo doesn't know that it's just a trick. Instead of Romeo thinks Juliet is dead and he drinks deadly poison and stretches death together. Unfortunately, when Juliet woke up she found Romeo was not breathing hugging her then, he killed himself.



3. MacBeth
The setting of this story comes from Scotland. It is said that three strange witches came to tell the Scottish general named Macbeth that he would ascend the throne to become King of Scotland. At that time, he was with Banquo who was also a general of King Duncan. The witches also informed that Banquo's descendants would be king, but he was not promised any kingdom.

With this information, Macbeth and his wife become very ambitious. They kill the King while everyone in the palace is asleep so Macbeth can take the throne. However, when he was captured by a nobleman in Angsana, he killed him. Not only the nobleman, but Macbeth also killed the drunk guards because he was paranoid. As long as he was King of Scotland a feeling of insecurity haunted him. he remembered the wizard's prophecy that Banquo's descendants would inherit his throne. Civil war ensued and even Macbeth became a victim of his wife and eventually committed suicide due to guilt and paranoia for what they had done.
