Membangun Narasi Palsu Tentang Islamphobia

Eminent Vedic Scholar David Frawley in a recent post on Twitter wrote: “You cannot criticize Islam in Pakistan because it is the majority. You cannot criticize Islam in India because it is a minority. Yet you can criticize Hinduism in India because it is a majority and in Pakistan because it is a minority. Yet Hindus are said to be intolerant.”

A similar predicament was faced by Hindus when the issue of cow slaughter was debated in Parliament. Members of the Left and Congress argued that cow slaughter cannot be banned in Kerala because Muslims are a minority there. In Kashmir the argument was Muslims were a majority, hence can’t be banned.

Leftists, Islamists and their apologists have been aggressively promoting the false narrative that “Islamophobia”. Taking cue from Islamists abroad, Indian Islamists and Leftist-liberals have started a campaign on campuses and media, especially in the wake of the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act. There is a sinister move to mainstream highly parochial and communal slogans such as la ilaha illalla and Allacumakbar, etc. The secular-liberal media tried to project highly radicalised women activists of Jamaat-e-Islami as icons and ‘Sheros’ who asserted that these Islamic slogans were nothing but secular. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor got a taste of real communalism when he was heckled by a radicalised mob shouting la ilaha illalla at Jamia varsity for allegedly equating Hindutva with Islam.

Globally too there is an attempt to make it a big issue. Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on March 22 called for a global fight against ‘rising Islamophobia’. He called upon members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to join the fight just as humanity fought against antisemitism after the Holocaust disaster.

In India too, any criticism of Muslim extremism is projected as Islamophobia. By branding it so, the proponents seek to bulldoze any criticism against Islamic radicals.
