Eid al fitr

Eid al fitr is a traditional muslim festival. Marks the end of Ramadan, the muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of shawwal, the 10[sup]th[/sup] month of the Islamic calendar. Though the muslim use of a lunar calendar means that eid al fitr may fall in any month of the year.

All muslims are visiting family and visiting the graveyard to pray for their family member who had died. Usually all the family member will gather at the oldest home, like gather together in grandmother’s house, all the family like the children from the oldest until the youngest, grandchildrens, and great-grand childrens. All muslims will apologize to each other.


The unique food when it comes to eid al fitr are “Ketupat” and “Opor ayam”. We will eat together and after that there is another tradition, giving the money or we usually call it THR. All muslims will happily welcome eid al fitr.
