Susan Leslie O’Brien was reported that on August 14, she was driving a Suzuki APV car from south to north with a speed of 70km/h. She was going to overtaking a truck on the road, when she accidentally hit a motorcyclist coming in the opposite direction. The victim, Rizki Akbar Putra, a 19year-old, died at the scene on 14[sup]th[/sup] August. 

14 October 2019, O’Brien was undergoing her first day of trial in Negara District Court in West Bali. She was sentence with a maximum 6 years in prison. She has been detained in jail since the accident on August 14. 

O’Brien was represented by two lawyers. Prosecutor Arief Ramadhoni explained that the defendant was on the right and flashed her lights. However, at the same time, a motorbike driven by Rizki Akbar Putra came from Gilimanuk to Denpasar. The court was told that at the time, Rizki had lost control of his motorbike, fell down, and was hit by the car driven by O’Brien, who had been unable to slow enough to avoid the accident.
