Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, an upcoming four-player action game, is the latest title to be revealed from Crytek Games — a studio made up of ex-employees of Darksiders developer Vigil Games.
Blurring the lines between the history of the 19th century and monsters of myth, the third-person title turns players into both the hunter and the hunted, according to the studio.
Hunt, which is slated to launch on as-of-yet unspecified consoles and Windows PC, follows this collective of hunters during the 1800s as they seek out enemy creatures within a procedurally generated environment that promises no two enemy encounters are the same. Players take on the role of one of these four pre-made characters who can later be customized along with their weapons as they take on a variety of monstrous bosses.
"In Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we've created," said David Adams CEO of Crytek USA and former CEO of Vigil Games. "From the outset of the development process, we've poured our imaginations into the game so that everyone who plays Hunt will discover a challenging experience that feels fresh, captivating and rich in possibilities."
The free-to-play release is set to enter into closed beta for Windows PC later this year. Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age will show during this year's E3 expo from June 10-12.
