According to Frank’s justification above, the writer can understand that Frank is less respectful toward his father, because he thinks that they are living together and no one of them can keep up polite manners toward the others. Frank knows his father’s bad habits and either does his father. Based on the writer’s perception, this strange behaviour between a father and his son seems normal for Frank. Furthermore, The Reverend Samuel also has ever revealed to Frank about his youth mistake. He was offering money to a woman to return his letters. The woman was Mrs. Warren whose service he had purchased. This makes Frank becomes getting less respectful toward his father despite of his profession as a clergyman, which is respectable in society.
