Pobega: 'I want Milan return'

Spezia midfielder Tommaso Pobega admitted he followed Juventus as a child but stressed he ‘wants a return’ to Milan. ‘They’re a great team’.
The Rossoneri extended Pobega’s contract until June 2025 in June, as he returned from an excellent loan spell in Serie B with Pordenone.
He was soon loaned out to gain further first-team experience at Spezia in Serie A and has helped the newly promoted side pick up eight points from their seven first matches.
“As a child I was a Juventus fan. In 2012, Cagliari-Juventus was played in Trieste and I was one of the ball boys,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“That evening, [Antonio] Conte’s Juve won the Scudetto. Then, I was a ball boy at San Siro too.
“I moved to Milan at the age of 14. I had a wonderful experience, but it was tough. In Trieste I was the star and at Milan I didn’t play much in the beginning.
“The second boarding school was attached to the stadium. From the window I could see San Siro. When I was little, my favourite player was Bastian Schweinsteiger, I liked how he moved on the pitch.”
Pobega has targeted a return to Milan after his time with Spezia and hopes to impress in Serie A this term.
“Maldini, before sending me on loan to Spezia, told me good luck and encouraged me to work well because Milan continue to follow me,” he added.
“That’s where I want to return. Before moving to Spezia, I played in friendlies against Monza and Vicenza.
“I realised Milan were ready for that leap in quality. They’re a great team, everyone knows what they have to do on the pitch and the characteristics of the individuals.
“But I was sad to play with Spezia in an empty San Siro, it was really sad.”
Pobega has scored two goals in six Serie A games for Spezia and his first came in the 4-1 defeat against Juventus.
“I scored my first goal in Serie A against [Gianluigi] Buffon,” he said. “I’m 21 and he’s 42, twice as much. That’s weird, eh."
