What would you do if a bear, wolf, lion or tiger is going to attack your village and eat your domesticated animals?

Would you build a Palisade and a wooden gate around your village?

What if you have to kill the bear or lion or wolf? What armor would you wear? Would a wooden shield be enough?

Would you need other protection like a leather armor? Would it be enough? Would you need a bronze armor?

What weapon would you bring? A spear would be good against a big animal such as the bear or lion. Since they're slow and a spear would keep you in save distance.

I think I'm going to bring a sword like the gladius to fight a herd of wolves since they're small and faster and hunt in packs.

Or would you use a bow and arrow? Since the bear doesn't wear armor I think there's no need for a crossbow.

What would you do and wear in the ancient times to protect your livestock and village from a bear? What minimum gear would you use in order to defeat the bear?

What does it take at bare minimum to kill a bear in ancient times? Perhaps to bring an army of villagers would help too.
