Hi friend! In my first post, I try to review the picture book for children entitled "It's Best Day Ever, Dad!" by Brooks Sheilds and Illustrated by Cori Doerrfeld. I'm interested in reading it because the cover is interesting, The cover illustrating the closeness of children with their fathers. The book not only contains story text/script but it is also  accompanied by illustrated images. so the book will easy to understand the purpose of the story text, especially for children who look or read it.

The book was made in the medium size (not too big and not too small) because the book is intended for children, so if the book is printed in large size, children will have difficulty to holding it. The book uses a hardcover so the book isn't susceptible to damage.



Let's move on to the contents of the story.
There are four characters in this book. The main character is Frankie, a little girl who is always cheerful. Why do I judge her as someone who is always cheerful? Because in every picture in the book, she is always portrayed with a cheerful face. She has a younger sister named Violet. Violet is a younger sister of Frankie who always plays and doing activities at home together with Frankie. The two figures love each other and look compact, they have a pet dog, named Darla. Then the next character is Father, the father's name is not mentioned in the book. He is very close to his two children, he arranges and treats his child well in a fun way, he is a man who has a leadership spirit and cares for his family, he is compassionate and patient, it can be seen from every illustration of his character depicted in this book.


Overall this book tells a father who plans to surprise the mother of his children that day by bringing his two children to play with him and also invites his child to do all the homework that is usually done by mothers. They begged my mother to rest and do nothing on that day, they do everything together very fun, they managed to do everything without disturbing the mother. And finally, the mother felt surprised, touched and happy for what they had done that day.

Besides interesting to read, this book contains many values of life and very educational as I explained below based on pictures and my opinion, there are :


In the picture above, you can see the compactness of a father and two children even a pet dog. They let Mother to sleep and do not want to interfere with mother's rest time, because they know that Mother need rest after doing a lot of home activities that they have to complete. In life, this is a good action to emulate, which is to give the mother a break and try to not disturb her because the mother has a lot of work from starting the morning preparing breakfast, taking care of children, cleaning the house and many things so that a mother needs time to rest.


In the picture above gives the value of sharing and cooperation. By relay, Frankie gives ice cream to dad, then dad gives to violet and then violet gives ice cream to their pet dog. The picture can teach the meaning of a collaboration and sharing fairly starting from small things, it will feel very beautiful.


In the picture above gives an ethical value before eating which is sitting when eating. When the dog want to eat, violet tells the dog to sit first. The picture can provide learning to children, so that the children can remember and do the same thing; Sitting when eating, not standing or squatting.


In conclusion, this book is very good to read while being shown to children. In terms of appearance, the contents and all of the illustrations are very good. The author made the story that describing the closeness and happiness of children with parents does not have to do anything fancy, they make anything with simplicity but memorable and fun.
