Construction of Vault 76 began in 2065 and ended in 2069, under the supervision of Vault-Tec official Giles Wolstencroft.
It was debuted in 2076 in honor of America's tercentenary (300th birthday).
Vault 76 is one of 17 "control" vault with 500 occupants. The vault was designed to open 20 years after a nuclear war.
It was used as a baseline to compare to experimental vaults where Vault-Tec was observing human behavior under other introduced conditions.
