I have visited Jakarta Smart City office at the beginning of this year. I was amazed by the presentation given by the officers that technology can be used to solve urban problems. For example, they can optimize the Transjakarta (public bus) routes by using big data technology. It is very interesting because the knowledge of technology that I learn in college can be used to make an impact on society. Because of that, I have a career aspiration to become an engineer in the public sector. One day, I want to be able to build a technology solution for solving urban problems, especially for my hometown.
However, to be able to develop the right technology, it is very important to know how local government works. Participating in this program is the right way for me to achieve that. I will have a rare chance to learn it directly from the local government leaders in Turkey. In addition, Turkey is the right place to learn about utilizing technology for solving urban problems. Turkey has Izmir, a city that has the largest Intelligent Transportation System project in scope in the world. I believe that I will get many ideas that can be implemented in my hometown after joining this program.
