What holiday is most popular in your country?
The most popular holiday in my country umm ... I think it should be Christmas and Ramadan feast ... one is Christian holiday and the other is Moslem holiday. These two days are celebrated by most people, well, by celebrate I mean people are feeling festive during the days before the holiday itself. TV will show special programs related with the theme of these holidays and school will absolutely allow several days for family to return to their hometown and get together with their family. In Indonesia, people are excited about these days, I guess.

Besides traveling, what do people in your country like to do when they have a holiday (vacation) from work or study?
Well, people in my country like to visit their grandparents house or relative's house. We try to connect with friends and relatives more during the holiday time. Indonesian are known as friendly community and society. We treat our friends and family very welcome and warm-heartedly not only just during the holiday time, but also most of the time. It will be a bad holiday if you don't get to spend it with your friends and family.

What do students do during their Summer and Winter holidays?
Well, Indonesia doesn't really get into the whole Summer and Winter holidays since that isn't applicable in my country. School holiday is usually between June and July and students will use that time to finish their game and travel abroad. For some people though, school holiday means time to spend for studying things more seriously, taking cooking class or language class are some interesting activities that can be done by students.

Would you agree that different types of people choose different holiday activities?
Well, I would say the way someone spend their holiday is mostly related to the way they earn their living. I mean, people who have to do hard work to earn their living and earn so little won't be attracted to spend all the savings for things that are not really vital for their day-to-day life. On the other hand, people who have to do hard work and earn so much, might want to splash the cash and use it for luxurious holiday in Raja Ampat or Lombok, for example. So yeah, I agree that different types of people spend their holiday differently, poor people can't have a nice holiday..

At what time of the year are people most likely to go traveling (for pleasure, not on business)?
People mostly go travelling when it is almost the change of the year, so the end of December, I guess. It is always an exciting way to make your colleagues and friends jealous to know that you are spending your holiday in another island or in another countries. For example, you can say Happy new Year from Tibet! That is one post that I guarantee will invite so many likes from your Facebook friends.

Can you explain why some people like to travel away from home?
Travelling opens up a new world. It informs you that this world is huge, and full of people. It makes you understand that you are silly and stupid if you just think that this world only consists of your neighbor and your colleagues at the office. This world is full of surprises and interesting cultures to discover. This will update your sense of well-being as a human, and so you come home thinking that you need to explore more of the world next time. If you can handle a travel, every travel is a possible adventure. There are unlimited advantages in it.

Is it easy for young people to travel in their holidays?
Well, define young. If we are talking about little kid up to 8 year old, well, yeah, they perhaps have not developed the sense of understanding why holiday is necessary. Well, what do you expect, they're kids. They don't know how stressful working life really is. So, they don't have any stress they need to escape from. So it is not easy for children to travel 2 to 3 months in China, Hongkong, Israel, I guess. Young people, take them to ToysRUs and they're satisfied already.

Do people generally spend holidays with their family, or with their friends?
When you are teenagers or young adults you still have friends. So you may want to spend your holiday with them. When you are older, there will be no friends in your life, all you get is the fat wife, or the fat husband, and the in-laws ... So .. you'll spend your holiday with your kid and family as you get older. There's nothing you can do about that. Unless you're rich like Dan Bilzerian ... if you know what I mean ..

Do people go to different places for a holiday in different seasons?
Yes, and No. If they are from the country that doesn't have snow, they may want to go to a particular place in time for the snow. But there is no need to go to a certain place just to enjoy the rainy season. Since most country know what rainy season looks like ..

Can you think of any advantages in having short holidays?
Well, short holidays mean you get less time to do things in detail, for example, if you only spend two weeks in Japan, it is less likely to be able to become fluent in Japanese in such a short time. You will see Sakura flower, you will see kattun concert ... you'll know harajuku .. but your language will still be bad ... the advantage, you can get back sooner to earning money! and not spending it all the time ...

And can you think of any advantages in having long holidays?
Long holidays mean you get to do what you want to do, and you can visit more places, and you can have more than just a short time to know a culture more completely. Let's say if you spend a month in Bali... you will be able to learn how to do Kecak Dance and how to surf for example. In Bali, you can rent motorcycle, so you can improve your motorcycle riding skill. So not only, you get to know about the culture, you can be part of the culture itself.

Which do you think are better, several short holidays or just a few long holidays (vacations) during the year?
Well, the answer is quite easy, I guess. Several short holidays that would mean more money for transportation .. and you can't get to avoid this. You will need to spend more money for the return ticket for the whole family. As for long holidays, you may spend your long holiday in one of your uncle houses and therefore does not necessarily mean more money to spend a long holiday. So from the financial perspective, it is obvious that several short holidays will cost more than long holidays

What do people usually do during short holidays?
People usually visit landmarks of the city. For example Opera House, or maybe the great wall in China. If they go to Indonesia, they will visit Bali, Tanah Lot. Not much to do in a short time, so it is better to visit interesting place or you can consult the lonely planet to see what needs to be visited in certain places.

Can you explain how people benefit from having a holiday from work or study?
You don't want too much time working in your life. There needs to be a sense of balance. Balancing between the need to earn the money so you can enjoy the life as it should be. We work 8 hours a day sometimes more than that. We do this and we need a holiday to refresh ourselves from our routine activities. When it feels bored already, there needs to be a change of scenery. For workers, they will feel fresh after they take a short break. For the students they will have more motivation to improve in the school as they see that the world is wide and only successful people can get to travel around the world anytime they want. People benefit themselves in form of motivation.

Is it easy for working people in your country to take a holiday?
No, it is quite difficult. In Indonesia the days for annual leave are at most 12 days and it can't be more than that. But if we perform very well in the job, and we have close relationship to the boss, or to the supervisor, it can be done. In Indonesia, the most important thing is money. You can do anything you want as long as you have the money.

Can you explain why people go to work?
People go to work in order to fulfill the sense of worthiness and to earn a living.You need to feel that you are useful. That's why you go to the office. Most people go to the office because that way they will earn some salary. The money is important to support your lifestyle and your family lifestyle. Unless you come from a very rich family, then you need to work in one way or another. Going to work is just a situation that have to be endured by people who can't setup their own business or make their money work for them. Some people get rich from their investment and other way of making money.
