Ally (Anna Faris) adalah wanita yang memiliki banyak mantan pacar, suatu hari ia membaca sebuah artikel di majalah yang menyebutkan bahwa rata-rata wanita di Amerika, berhubungan seks dengan 10,5 pria, artikel itu juga menyebutkan bahwa wanita yang telah berhubungan seks dengan lebih dari 20 pria, akan sulit mendapatkan suami, hal ini membuat Anna panik karena ia telah berhubungan dengan 19 pria, ia pun berjanji bahwa pria ke-20 akan menjadi suaminya.
Rencana Anna berantakan, karena ketika mabuk ia berhubungan seks dengan mantan bosnya, orang yang ia benci. Maka satu-satunya cara agar ia tidak berhubungan dengan lebih dari 20 pria, adalah dengan kembali ke salah satu mantan pacarnya. Dengan dibantu oleh Colin (Chris Evans), tetangganya yang playboy, Anna berusaha menemukan mantan-mantan pacarnya yang ia rasa cukup baik untuk menjadi suaminya.
