OOR dibentuk oleh Toru ketika masih duduk di bangku SMA. Pada mulanya Toru mengajak Ryota yang merupakan teman segrupnya di Heads, dan memintanya belajar bass. Kemudian Toru juga mengajak Alex untuk bergabung, lalu menyusul Taka. Toru, yang kala itu melihat Taka tampil pada acara cover band, merasa bahwa Taka adalah orang yang sangat cocok mengisi posisi sebagai vokalis di OOR dan bersikeras memasukkannya ke dalam grup. Pada tahun 2007 member terakhir, Tomoya, bergabung sebagai drummer. Tomoya telah sering mengiringi band ini sebelumnya, namun baru resmi menjadi member ketika OOR debut.

Nama ONE OK ROCK diambil dari pelafalan One O'clock, yang merupakan waktu latihan para anggota band yang dilakukan tiap akhir minggu.

Pada Mei 2009, Alex ditangkap karena kasus pelecehan seksual (groping young woman) di kereta Kanagawa. Insiden terselesaikan secara damai dan Alex tidak sampai diadili. Alex pun keluar dari OOR dan sejak saat itu hingga sekarang, OOR beranggotakan empat orang

The artist lineup and schedule was recently announced for the second year of the open-air festival MONSTER baSH 2011″, which will be held at Kokuei Sanuki Mannou Kouen Uchishibafu Hiroba in Kagawa from August 20th to the 21st.

The artists being announced this time include back number, Clammbon, Cocco, Hata Motohiro, and Sambomaster performing on the 20th, and ACIDMAN, FACT, KREVA, Negoto, Nothings Carved In Stone, MAXIMUM THE HORMONE, MONOBRIGHT, Perfume, and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra on the 21st, for a total of 14 acts.
