Musik yang mereka usung tergolong unik & revolusioner saat itu. Tetap dalam genre Metal namun kental akan sentuhan funk dan hip-hop.
Terutama lirik yang diciptakan oleh sang vokalis yang penuh akan nuansa politik dan kebencian terhadap penguasa yang sewenang-wenang.
Ciri lain keunikan mereka adalah sound gitar yang diciptakan oleh sang gitaris , Tom Morello , yang penuh dengan suara efek & synthesizer hasil dari eksperimennya dalam penggabungan sound , guitar effect atau bahkan cara & teknik bermain gitar yang cukup unik.
Akan tetapi yang benar2 menjadi ciri khas RATM adalah lirik2 yang lugas dan penuh kritik yang dinyanyikan dengan gaya rap oleh sang vokalis Zack de la Rocha.

kemudian album BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES pada tahun 1999
disusul dengan album RENEGADES pada tahun 2000

Tom Morello was born on Saturday, May 30, 1964 in New York City, New York, United States of America. He is a famous musician, songwriter and activist. Tom Morello is also an American Grammy Award-winning guitarist.
Biography and Career:
Tom Morello is an American guitarist, Songwriter and Activist. When Morello was 16 months old, Njoroge returned to his native Kenya, and denied his fatherhood of his son. Morello was hoisted exclusively by his mother in Libertyville, Illinois, a community of Chicago.
At age 13, Morello connected his first band; a Led Zeppelin plaster band as the lead singer. He graduated from Harvard.
Around 1984, Morello first began learning the guitar seriously. He had created a band in that year called the Electric Sheep which attributed future Tool gu
itarist Adam Jones on bass.
In 1991 Tom was looking to form a new band and made Rage Against the Machine which performed outside the Staples Center to a large crowd while the Convention obtained position inside.
Morello participated on a number of soundtracks, including Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Spider-Man. He was an "Additional Electric Guitar" in the 2008 superhero film Iron Man and took part in a terrorist. He is also leading light in the film Berkeley.
