French Presidential Election : Emmanuel Macron Is Projected To Be The New President

At first, I meant to bring this topic on the Lounge but then I thought it's better if it has a separate thread talking about the latest French Presidential Election won by Emmanuel Macron. First of all, look at this picture!

The election had to proceed to the 2nd round to determine who possessed the majority voice of French People. The final or second round was the battle between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen. A battle between someone who's Pro-EU and someone who's anti-immigrant. Let me share two great articles about it!

Macron, 39, a former economy minister who ran as a “neither left nor right” independent promising to shake up the French political system, took 66% to Le Pen’s 34%.

His victory was hailed by his supporters as holding back a tide of populism after the Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s victory in the US election.

Addressing thousands of supporters in the grand courtyard of the Louvre, the vast Paris palace-turned-museum, Macron said he would defend France and Europe. He said Europe and the world are “watching us” and “waiting for us to defend the spirit of the Enlightenment, threatened in so many places”.

He promised to unite a divided and fractured France, saying: “I will do everything to make sure you never have reason again to vote for extremes.”

Speaking of his meteoric rise and victory that was not forecast even a year ago, he said: “Everyone said it was impossible. But they didn’t know France!”

My personal comment for the five years of France administration will prioritize on enhancing cooperation with the EU. Macron is a figure who's liked by everybody and he asserts his policy on the betterment of economic cooperation with the institutions. Given the fact that he's currently the Minister of Economy, it would be his homework to foster France's economy. Ensemble, Le France!
