Hearts of Iron IV is the sequel to Hearts of Iron III from Paradox Development Studio, part of the Hearts of Iron series of grand strategy games focusing on World War II.
During an Ask Me Anything event on Reddit, Paradox staff confirmed that a Hearts of Iron 4 is planned, though the team gave no indication as to the priority of the game's development other than that it would likely come before the sequel to Victoria II;[1] it was revealed that it would be released "before 2020".[2] This was later clarified as being an intended release date of Q1 2015.[3]
In the same Ask Me Anything event, PDS manager Johan Andersson promised better AI and accessibility compared to HOI3,[4] and that the game would not have a rigid, forced game-progression but would feature sandbox-style gameplay.[5] He also stated that HOI4 would be available on the Linux operating system.[6]
Project Armstrong, the recently disclosed codename for a secret project at PDS was revealed on 23 January 2014,[7] as Hearts of Iron IV.
