Schoolboy, 15, screaming 'Allahu Akbar' as he shoots his teacher with BB gun in class is arrested by French police and admits he intended to 'die a martyr' after being radicalised
A 15-year-old has been arrested for screaming 'Allahu Akbar' and shooting his teacher with a BB gun after devising a plan to kill his literature tutor and die a martyr, it has been claimed.
A week after hatching his plan, the teenager brought a knife and airsoft gun and grenade to Oehmichen Technical School in the city of Chalons-en-Champagne, France.
He left his physics class to go and kill his literature teacher before changing his mind, returning and shooting his physics teacher with the BB gun.
Mr de Rocquigny said: 'He told investigators that he had a plan for one week, in which he was to stab his French professor and steal the car of his physics teacher under threat before ramming the car in the gendarmerie to die a martyr.
'He just gave his French teacher a sheet of paper containing a knife, then brandished a gun before returning to his physics class to shoot at the teacher.'
France is reeling from a spate of extremist attacks in recent months - including the January Charlie Hebdo shooting which killed 12.
In August, a group of men were hailed as heroes for their work in preventing another possible massacre by subduing a men who opened fire on a train.
Four people were injured in the attack, though none fatally.
In the days folloing, the group of men who stopped the attacker were awarded the Legion of Honour, France's highest decoration.
Spencer Stone, and Anthony Sadler, both 23, joined 22-year-old Alek Skarlatos in jumping on the attacker when his gun jammed.
