Egypt releases cockpit video of air strikes in Libya


The Egyptian defence ministry has released video reportedly showing footage of air strikes on Islamic State (IS) targets in eastern Libya.

The strikes were in reprisal for the apparent beheading of a group of up to 21 Coptic Christians by Islamic State extremists.

Egypt says there will be more air attacks and is also demanding that the US-led coalition fighting IS in Syria and Iraq, extends its operations to Libya.

Egypt strikes on IS in Libya 'sent strong message'

Egypt has bombed Islamic State targets in Libya, hours after the group published video showing the apparent beheadings of 21 Egyptian Christians, according to reports on state television.

The dawn strikes targeted camps, training sites and weapons storage areas - hours after President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Egypt had the "right to respond" against IS.

The BBC's Sally Nabil in Cairo said that the strikes would send "a very strong message" to the Egyptian people, amid demands that the government should "act strongly and swiftly".
