The Raid trio to feature in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Three actors from Gareth Evans's blood-drenched Indonesian martial arts films The Raid and The Raid 2: Berendal will be appearing JJ Abrams's forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, according to the entertainment website Twitch.

Iko Uwais, who stars in both films as hero Rama, Yayan Ruhian, who plays Mad Dog in the first film and Prakoso in the second, and Cecep Arif Rahman, who plays The Assassin in The Raid 2, are reported to be joining Abrams's film. To date, the casting has not been confirmed.

The Raid and The Raid 2: Berendal were both acclaimed for their brutal, stunningly well-choreographed fight scenes, and all three actors are skilled martial artists. This suggests that, if the casting rumour is true, Abrams's film may well feature some impressive hand-to-hand fighting.

The unknown British actress and Oxford graduate Maisie Richardson-Sellers recently confirmed that she would be appearing in The Force Awakens alongside a cast that includes Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver, as well as three stars from the original trilogy: Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.
