Infantry units all armies in the world are in need of light anti-tank weapons, allowing to deal with armored vehicles and fortifications. Adopted the Serbian army a few years ago was adopted antitank missile system "Bumbar." This system was developed for quite a long time, but all the same has been designed, tested and brought to normal production. The troops ATGM "Bumbar" replaces the outdated rocket-propelled grenades and anti-tank systems other older models.

Develop a set of "Bumbar" ("Bumblebee") began in the mid-nineties, before the breakup of Yugoslavia and the formation of the Republic of Serbia in its current form. Creating a project engaged in the Military Technical Institute (Belgrade). Active participation in the company's specialists took Yugoimport SDPR. The aim of the project "Bumbar" was to create a long-term anti-missile system short range, which will replace the existing outdated and grenade launchers, with greater efficiency in comparison with them.

ATRA "Bumbar" was to provide existing defeat armored vehicles, including main battle tank of the latest models. Required to create a warhead capable of punching tank armor for dynamic protection. Intended method of application has imposed restrictions on the size and weight of the complex. In addition, it was necessary to take into account some features of the use of light anti-tank systems associated with the combat operation in urban environments.

According to the results of several studies was defined technical appearance and composition of long-term anti-tank systems. Complex "Bumblebee" consists of a guided missile, supplied in a transport-launch container, aiming and launching device, a light tripod and additional thermal sight to find and attack targets in bad weather or at night. In the stowed position units of the complex have a length of not more than 1164 mm. The total weight of a ready to use the complex (without thermal) - about 18 pounds.

Rocket complex "Bumbar" delivered in sealed fiberglass transport-launch containers (TLC). For transport containers are equipped with a belt. To avoid damage to the WPK equipped with end caps with large "attachments" of soft material designed to absorb the shocks. On the outer surface of the WPK has connectors and brackets for mounting sighting equipment and installation of the container on the machine-tripod.

To defeat armored vehicles equipped with dynamic protection, guided missile complex "Bumbar" is a tandem shaped-charge warhead. Due to this complex is said to have almost not affected by means of opto-electronic suppression. The probability of hitting the target is declared at the level of 90%.

In addition to the TPC with a rocket-launcher and sighting device of the ATGM "Bumblebee" is a light machine-tripod, designed to simplify the operator's work. The tripod allows you to set complex on any suitable surface. There is information on the development of tools that allow to mount complex "Bumbar" on different types of technology.

The calculation of the anti-complex "Bumbar" consists of two people. The first carries the pack with a transport-launch canister, sighting device and a tripod. The second number is the calculation of two containers with missiles. When installing ATRA on self-propelled chassis Ammunition is limited only by the capacity of the machine base.

Application of the "Bumbar" is as follows. Arriving at the position calculation lays out a tripod, set it with a missile and TPK mounts sighting device. For several reasons, the new weapon was not immediately accepted into service of the Serbian army. Serial production of the new anti-tank systems only began in 2011-12. For while the complex of "Bumblebee" waiting for adopting Serbian engineers have created a new version of a guided missile. The basic version, it differs used main engines and guidance system. The new engine has a charge of solid fuel, which allows it to fly at a distance of up to 1000 m. Due to the increasing range of uses laser control system. The operator must direct the laser beam at the target, along which the rocket flies. ATRA "Bumbar" was originally created for the Army of Serbia, but is now available, and foreign customers. The export version of the complex was named Bumble Bee (Eng. "Bumblebee"). This modification differs from the basic system name only. Characteristics export version are at their own Serbian.
