The important lesson we learn from Mr Widodo’s story is how every Indonesian, men and women, can contribute politically within a democratic context as long as they possess integrity and a successful track record. We remember how there were many who were inspired by Jokowi’s gubernatorial campaign in 2012. History repeats itself. Now, he inspires millions of Indonesians who were previously apathetic to politics to volunteer themselves in his presidential campaign. They came in search of “hope”: hope that Jokowi will become the next president; hope that Jokowi will build a better Indonesia; and hope that Jokowi will inspire more Indonesians to contribute to the nation. Jokowi cannot work alone. He needs our help: Indonesians are one team, one big family, one nation, and one country. This country needs more brilliant Indonesians to join and to help make our Indonesia a better place. If you want an egalitarian country of shared opportunities and shared responsibilities, a “we’re-all-in-this-together” society, a place filled with hope for the future, you should vote for Joko Widodo – Jusuf Kalla
