Swedish state should pay to Thailand

The Swedish state is not able to deliver spare parts for the Gripen aircraft, radar surveillance planes Thailand previously purchased. Situation deteriorating additionally regularly during 2013 and the state is now forced to give Thailand deduction of payments for the Gripen system
Thailand has previously bought twelve Gripens from Sweden. The plan was introduced in 2011 by the Royal Thai Air Force and formally, it is about a deal between the two countries. It is the Swedish state who first bought the plan of Saab and then sold them on to Thailand.
According to a report that FMV, the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration, has done it in 2013, has become increasingly difficult to manage the delivery of spare parts to the plan. It has gone so far that the Royal Thai Air Force under the contract are entitled to a deduction for the amount it will pay for its Gripen System because spare parts are not coming.
Louise Wileen Bjarke, Press Manager at FMV, say that it involves a relatively small amount but would not be more specific. Why it has been so difficult to obtain spare parts can not be answered.
Saab say they did not have any problems delivering spare parts for the Gripen aircraft it sells. But in this case, the FMV, and not Saab, who is the seller and the contract with the Royal Thai Air Force.
- It's incredibly complex systems, it is all about and we can only regret that it has not worked. The damage has not been so great for the Thais but there is a strict agreement that we must follow, says Louise Wileen Bjarke.
She would not say whether the situation has improved now so that Thais will at least get their spares as planned in 2014.
The agreement to purchase the first six Gripen planes was signed in 2008 and the contract for an additional six plan was written 2010. Then bought Thailand also radar surveillance aircraft Saab 340 Erieye. Even in the latter case, the FMV is contracted, not Saab.
