99.5% of High School Students Pass National Exam: Ministry
According to the news: http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/news/...exam-ministry/

99.5% pass rate for national exams.

Does this mean that Indonesian students are the smartest in the world?

Or that our standards are so ridiculously low that anyone can pass with just the barest effort?

I think the Indonesian education system is a pile of junk. I've taught students who claim that they get 95% and over for their English exams but when I handed them GCSE papers done by their counterparts overseas, they all fail.

I have the belief that most educators in Indonesia are not qualified to teach and that the schools and the government intentionally adjust the passing grade to make it seem as if they're really doing a good job when in fact, Indonesian students lag so far behind students from other countries.
