Tony Perkins says the military’s high suicide rate is a result of the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” which is “adding additional stress” by “driving Christianity out [and] putting homosexuality in.” Perkins is the head of the certified anti-gay Family Research Council.

The volume of these decisions coming out of this administration is unbelievable, unbelievable. The stress in our military, when you look how they have used the military for their social experimentation: driving Christianity out, putting homosexuality in, suicide rate going through the ceiling. I think it was last year if I recall the numbers there were 349 suicides in 2012 and I believe that’s more than were killed in combat, that’s the highest number since the Pentagon began tracking suicides back in 2001. And what are they doing? Adding additional stress by this social engineering. Unbelievable.”

Right Wing Watch notes that “Perkins cited no evidence to back up his claim, but as with his ominous and incorrect predictions regarding the consequences of DADT’s repeal, he apparently doesn’t see a need to substantiate his outrageous allegations.”

Earlier this week, Perkins sent an emergency action alert email claiming that “homosexual activists” are “bullying” the Boy Scouts of America into dropping their ban on gays.

Last week, Peter Sprigg of Perkins’ Family Research Council said “homosexuals already have all the same civil rights as anyone else,” but their personal relationships don’t have an “equal value to society.”

Last year, Perkins praised Uganda’s president for “leading his nation” with the “Kill The Gays” bill, and called Uganda “a modern example of a nation prospered by God.”

Also last year, Tony Perkins waged war against the august Southern Poverty Law Center, for including the Family Research Council on their certified hate group list.
