In hindsight we can't fully blame some of these clubs for taking this ESL stance.

Football has become more competitive these last years, and to stay on top of the competition, money is needed.

Let's not forget we fans are also main protagonists in clubs making transfers (last summer is a prime example for Chelsea fans) and these guys controlling football clubs put *their* own money into the running of these clubs.

UCL winner gets €82.4m
EPL winner gets €150m

Total= €232.4m

You participate in the ESL and get €350m,
The winner gets €500m

So you can't blame clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester City for agreeing though, it's been stated Chelsea and Manchester City don't need the funds from the ESL.

1/3 "Still waiting for the statement. It’s been reinforced that this is very much a US-led operation. While it won’t mean much to many, told Chelsea and City were very much backed into a corner on Friday." (Mike Keagan)

but I wonder why Arsenal and Tottenham agreed though? These clubs don't spend a dime on transfers so what's the logic??

I am really disappointed in Chelsea though but I hope UEFA, FIFA and these clubs can reach a compromise. Increase the financial profits from the UCL and UEL, then set caps on club expenditures (transfers, player and staff wages and others) as these are too flexible in football's ever-growing economy, where teams will be tempted to spend more to achieve more.

Florentino Perez, chairman of The Super League:

“If the players participating in the European Super League are banned from playing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, we will create our own World Cup tournament. It is not a big deal.”
